GIS applications are useful for a variety of scientific and commercial applications. MapWindow is an existing and open-source GIS platform, including a desktop application which can be extended with custom plug-ins and including components that can be embedded for building new applications. This takes advantage of a lot of work that's already been done, bringing any GIS tool closer to reach with less time and less cost.

Having worked with MapWindow since the project's inception, I can build MapWindow-based tools quickly and easily. In addition to this, I'm very familiar with GDAL (Geospatial Data Abstraction Library) and OGR, often using these APIs to quickly create spatial processing tools for a wide variety of tasks.

• Image Georeferencing Tool: Assigns coordinates to an image such that it can be used inside of a GIS application.
